If you search online for a concrete wall panel making machine, you will find several completely different machines under the same name. Some make long hollow partition panels. Some cast EPS sandwich panels. Others are hydraulic presses used for terrazzo tiles and decorative concrete slabs.

We have written this guide because customers often send us a picture and simply ask, “Can your machine make this panel?” The honest answer is that the picture alone is not enough. We need the size, thickness, edge detail, required surface, product weight and daily production target. A good machine starts with a clearly defined product.
Engineering note: A 20 mm panel should normally be treated as a decorative tile, cladding or architectural surface. It is not automatically a structural or load-bearing wall panel. Structural use requires a separate engineered design, reinforcement, testing and approved fixing system.

There is no single name used in every market. A buyer in Pakistan may ask for a wall tile press, while an overseas buyer may search for a terrazzo slab machine or hydraulic concrete panel press. Common names include:

The word “approximately” is important. In real production, output changes with the product. A plain slab is easier to fill and release than a panel with a deep texture or complicated interlocking edge. A factory with a properly placed mixer, trained operators and enough curing racks will also produce more than a factory where every fresh tile is carried by hand across the floor.

What Can This Machine Produce?
Terrazzo Floor and Wall Tiles
The machine can press cement-based terrazzo products made with selected aggregates, stone or marble chips and pigments. After curing, the face can be ground and polished to expose the aggregate. The press forms the tile; grinding and polishing are normally separate operations.
400 × 800 mm Concrete Slabs
The 400 × 800 mm format gives a large rectangular surface suitable for selected flooring, wall and architectural finishing applications. At only 20 mm thickness, however, the fresh product needs proper support during release and movement. If it is lifted carelessly from one side, even a well-pressed tile can crack before curing.
Decorative Wall Panels
A different mould face can create grooves, stone patterns, geometric textures or another approved design. The side profile can also be made according to the required joint, but it must release cleanly. A beautiful design on paper is of little use if the fresh concrete locks inside the mould or the corners break during demoulding.
Custom Concrete Products
Other sizes may be possible, but we do not recommend changing only the mould and assuming everything else will remain the same. How the Production Process Works in a Real Factory
Machine videos usually show only the pressing moment. In reality, pressing is one part of a longer process. The factory must keep mixing, filling, forming, lifting, curing and finishing moving at roughly the same speed.
Preparing the Mix
Cement, graded sand or aggregate, decorative chips, pigment, water and any approved admixture are measured according to the product formulation. The same formula will not work with every local sand. Moisture, grading and dust content change the behaviour of the mix, so trial production is necessary.
For terrazzo work, colour consistency matters as much as strength. If pigment is judged by eye instead of weight, the shade can change from batch to batch. If water is added without control, the tile may look different after polishing and may behave differently during release.
Mixing and Mould Filling
The materials must be mixed long enough to distribute cement, colour and aggregates. The mixer should be close enough to the press that material does not wait or segregate before filling. Buyers planning a complete setup can review our concrete mixer machines.
With a small block, a slight filling difference may be less visible. With a 400 × 800 mm face, poor distribution quickly shows up as thickness variation, weak corners or a patchy surface. The feeding arrangement must spread the mix across the complete mould, not leave a heavy centre and light edges.
Hydraulic Pressing
The pressing head moves into the mould and the hydraulic system applies controlled force. Buyers sometimes focus only on maximum pressure, but pressure alone does not decide tile quality. Head travel, pressing time, mould clearance, material quantity and release sequence all work together.
Our preference is to set the machine around the actual mix and product. Chasing the shortest possible cycle before the tile is stable usually creates more rejected pieces, which is not real production.
Demoulding and Curing
Demoulding is one of the most sensitive stages for a large thin panel. The tile must release without sticking, twisting or losing its edge. Mould cleanliness, side profile and pressing-shoe condition matter here.
Fresh tiles then move to a protected curing area. Production planning must include enough trays, racks and floor space; otherwise the press will stop simply because there is nowhere safe to place the next tile.
Grinding and Polishing
For a true terrazzo appearance, cured products normally pass through grinding and polishing. Calibration may also be required where tight thickness control is important. These machines are not automatically included with the hydraulic press, so the quotation must state the scope clearly.
Why 400 × 800 × 20 mm Is a Demanding Size
This panel looks simple, but its shape creates practical challenges. It is wide compared with its thickness, so the fresh piece is sensitive to bending. The complete face must receive an even quantity of material. The mould must also remain flat and accurate under repeated pressing.

- Is the panel plain, textured or terrazzo-faced?
- Will it have straight edges or an interlocking profile?
- How will the fresh tile be supported after release?
- Is the mix dry-pressed, semi-dry or designed for another process?
- Does the customer need a polished face?
- What dimensional tolerance is acceptable?
- How many curing racks or pallets are available?
This is why we ask for a drawing. A difference of only a few millimetres in a lock or rebate can change the mould and demoulding path.
How Much Can the Machine Produce?
For the stated configuration, the planning figure is 1,500–2,000 pieces per day. It should not be calculated by multiplying the fastest empty-machine cycle by eight hours.
Real output is the number of acceptable finished pieces—not the number of times the press moves. Filling delays, mix preparation, cleaning, adjustment, breaks, handling and rejected products all affect the daily figure.
When another supplier gives a higher capacity, ask:
- Is that capacity for the same 400 × 800 × 20 mm product?
- How many working hours are included?
- Does it include filling and demoulding time?
- Is it gross press cycles or accepted finished tiles?
Without these answers, two capacity figures cannot be compared fairly.

One common mistake is spending the full budget on the press and leaving too little for moulds, handling and finishing. The result is a strong machine waiting for workers or curing space. A balanced production line is normally more useful than an oversized press with weak supporting arrangements.
Raw Materials and Mix Design
Common materials include cement, clean graded sand or fine aggregate, decorative stone or marble chips, mineral pigment, clean water and compatible admixtures. Fibres or reinforcement may be added where the engineered product design calls for them.
We deliberately do not publish one “universal” ratio. River sand in one area may have different moisture and grading from material used in another city. Terrazzo chips, cement colour, pigment strength, press method and required finish also vary.
The practical approach is to make trial batches, press sample tiles, cure them properly and check surface appearance, dimensions, corners, demoulding, strength, absorption and colour consistency. Once the trial is approved, every component should be weighed and recorded. “One bucket more or less” is not a production formula.

Start With the Product, Not the Price
Send a drawing, sample or clear photographs with exact dimensions. Tell the manufacturer where the panel will be used and whether it needs polishing. This prevents a low initial quotation from becoming an expensive modification later.
Confirm What “Automatic” Includes
Automatic can refer only to the hydraulic sequence, or it may include feeding and product handling. Ask the supplier to list every automatic and manual step in writing.
Review the Mould Carefully
The mould is not a minor accessory; it defines the product. Confirm mould material, face design, edge profile, cavities, expected wear, cleaning method and replacement parts.
Check the Complete Electrical Load
The main motor is 15 HP, but the line may also have a mixer, conveyors or polishing equipment. Site wiring should be sized for the final equipment list, not only the main motor.
Plan Installation and Service
Confirm floor requirements, unloading, electrical work, hydraulic oil, commissioning, training, warranty and spare-parts support before dispatch.
